April 2, 2009 - Mountain State forward Andrew Lee and head coach Bob Bolen claimed the 2009 NAIA Association of Independent Institutions Men's Basketball Division I Player and Coach of the Year awards respectively, the conference announced today. The A.I.I. also released their 2009 Division I Men's Basketball All-Star team.



Lee, a 6'6 junior forward from La Plate, Maryland, finished the season averaging 17 points and 7.7 rebounds-per-game in 2008-09. Lee finished the season fifth in the NAIA in shooting percentage (61.3 per cent), and was 22nd in steals-per-game in the NAIA with a 2.152 per-game average.

Lee's head coach Bolen was named the 2009 Coach of the Year after guiding Mountain State to the inaugural A.I.I. Championship and a berth in the 2009 NAIA National Championships. Mountain State won their first game of the tournament, however fell in the second round to Concordia 85-79.
