COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican women's volleyball team split over the weekend at the Taylor Trojan Challenge in Upland, Indiana. The Panthers won a pair of matches on Friday to extend their win streak to the longest of the season, but couldn't extend their run to more than nine games as they dropped back-to-back matches on Saturday.

The Panthers got off to a great start as they defeated St. Xavier University in three games Friday afternoon to improve their win streak to eight games. Ohio Dominican's offense dominated the net as they combined for a season high .322 hitting percentage in the match. Junior outside hitters Rachel Billing (Anna, OH) and Cassie Vome (Mason, OH) led the way with nine kills apiece.

Ohio Dominican continued to the roll with their ninth straight victory in their second game on Friday with a 3-1 victory over the University of St. Francis (Ind.). The Panthers fell behind early 1-0, but rallied to win the next three sets for the victory. ODU was led by junior Summer Hale (Galena, OH) who had a season best 15 kills.

ODU's streak would come to an end on Saturday as they fell to the No. 17 ranked Taylor Trojans in straight sets. The Panthers would drop another tough match this time to Spring Arbor University (Mich.) to finish the weekend 2-2.

The Panthers were led by Cassie Vome who was selected to the All-Tournament Team after finishing with 30 kills for the weekend.

Ohio Dominican (21-15) will return to action this Thursday, November 5th as they host Malone University in Alumni Hall. The Panthers home finale is set to begin at 7 p.m.
