Fraser University Clan midfielder Colin Streckmann (Burnaby, B.C.) and head
coach Alan Koch have been named the Association of Independent Institutions
2009 Men's Soccer Player and Coach of the Year, the conference office announced
on Tuesday afternoon. The conference office also released the 2009 First and
Second All-A.I.I. Conference men's soccer teams.
A senior on the Clan, Streckmann finished the regular season with eight goals and seven assists, and helped Simon Fraser to the 2009 Association of Independent Institutions Championship by scoring the game winning penalty kick goal in the Clan's opening round 1-0 over Ohio Dominican.
Currently in his second season at the helm of the Clan, Koch coached his team to a 15-3 regular season record, an A.I.I. Championship, and a 1-0 victory in the opening round of the NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship. Simon Fraser is in action next Tuesday in the Sweet Sixteen round of the NAIA Championship against defending champion Bethel.
SFU also led the A.I.I. First Team Selections with six athletes making the first team. CSU San Marcos, St. Thomas and Ohio Dominican are next on the list with two representatives each. Here is the final list of first and second team selections:
