The Night Hawks (3-0) completed a season opening series sweep on a chilly Sunday afternoon at Varnedoe Stadium, after sweeping a double header from the visiting Montreat College Cavaliers (0-3), 7-4 & 5-4 (8).

Down 4-3 in the bottom half of the eight, TU rallied to tie the game on a base hit by junior catcher Travis Flannagan (2-3, RBI, 2B) and then picked up a walk off base hit by junior pinch hitter Daniel Blanton (1-1, RBI) to complete a double header sweep of the Cavaliers. Junior relief pitcher Sean Medlin (1-0) picked up the victory with 2.2 innings of three hit ball and three strike outs of the Night Hawk pen.

Montreat held a 2-1 advantage into the fifth inning of game one but self destructed with three errors that led to six TU runs and a 7-2 advantage. Senior right fielder Drew Johnson (2-4, R, 2RBI) drove in two runs. Junior relief pitcher Jeremy Jones (1-0) notched the victory out of the pen, tossing three innings and allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits.

TU will look to remain unbeaten on Friday evening when they welcome Talladega College to Varnedoe Stadium for game one of a three game series beginning at 5PM.
