Senior Erica Sutter earned her first win of the season with a 6-2 decision over Harris-Stow
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican softball team traveled to Pensacola, Florida for their annual spring trip hoping to improve on last weekends (1-3) start.  The Panthers first test was a doubleheader verses Harris-Stowe State University (2-2) at the University of West Florida.

In game one, the Panthers (2-4) started fast with an early run in the first inning. ODU's Samatha Wolfe's (Jr./Columbus, OH) single up the middle plated Jennifer Baker from third to give the Panthers the early lead.  The Hornets answered scoring in the bottom of the first to tie the game, but it was the Panthers that had the big bats in the opener. ODU rallied in the seventh inning to score four runs and earn their second win of the season, 6-2.

Erica Sutter (Sr./Mansfield, OH) earned the win in the circle for the Panthers as she went five strong innings allowing one run on seven hits and struck out two. Shana Etter (Jr./Massillon, OH) got her first save as she put the clamps HSSU allowing one run on two hits.

Leading the way at the plate was Wolfe who was 3-for-4 with two RBI. The Panthers six runs came on nine hits in the victory.

Game two proved to be a different story for the Panthers as Harris-Stowe came out swinging. The Hornets scored two runs in the top of the first off ODU starter Maria Staton (Jr./New Bremen, OH).  The Hornets offense continued to build on their lead and they never relinquished the lead holding on to a 7-4 decision.

The Panthers again rallied late in the game scoring three runs in the seventh inning, but it came too late as they start the trip 1-1.

ODU will return to action on Sunday, March 7th as they take on the host University of West Florida at 3 p.m. (CST). The Panthers will then face the Hornets Harris-Stowe at 5 p.m. (CST).
