ORLANDO, Florida - The OhioDominicanUniversity men's tennis team started their spring outdoor season this week in Orlando, Florida, splitting their opening two matches. The Panthers dropped a highly competitive match against Aquinas College (MI) on Monday afternoon, 6-3, but bounced back to earn a win on Tuesday morning against St. Cloud State University 7-2.
 

On Monday, the Panthers struggled on the doubles court to win only 1-of-3 doubles point. Earning the lone double point for ODU was Bernardo Feitosa (So./Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and Bruno Melibeu (So./Sao Paulo, Brazil) at #2, 8-2. In singles play, the Panthers won just two courts, dropping their overall record to 1-6 on the season. Winning singles points for the Black and Gold was Feitosa at #1 singles 7-6(3), 6-2 and Bobby McMahan (Jr./Dunwoody, GA) on court six, 6-4, 6-3.

       
Tuesday morning saw the Panthers win 5-of-6 singles courts and 2-of-3 doubles points on their way to a convincing 7-2 win over NCAADivisionIISt.CloudStateUniversity. Earning singles points for ODU was Feitosa and Melibeu at #1 and #2 singles, 6-3, 6-3, and 6-2, 7-5, along with Greg Dillon (Jr./Fort Wayne, IN) Claude Badowski (So./Oundle, England) on courts three and four 7-6(4), 6-3, and 6-0, 6-7(4), 6-1. McMahan also grabbed his second singles win of the week on court six with a 6-3, 6-1 win. Clinching doubles points for ODU was Feitosa and Melibeu at #2 doubles, 8-2 and Dillon and McMahan on court three 8-6.
       
The Panthers will return to action on Friday, March 12th when they will play Moravian College
(PA) in Orlando. The match is set to begin at 9 a.m.
