Game four of the A.I.I. Baseball Tournament turned into a pitcher's duel Thursday afternoon at Pringles Park in Jackson, TN. Lambuth was able to push across two runs in the top of the ninth to beat Vorhees College 3-1 to advance to Friday play.
The Eagles received a clutch pitching performance from Ryan Adams who went seven strong inings, giving up just four hits. The Tigers lone run was unearned. Matt Fike pitched two innings of two-hit ball to move to 4-1 on the year.
Voorhees' James Pirro went all nine innings and held Lambuth to just seven hits. The Eagles scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Bart White and a bases loaded walk to Mike Davis in the ninth.
The Eagles first run came after a Mike Nitsos triple and a single by Matt Bird.
Lambuth is now 38-18 on the season and will play Friday at 3 p.m against LSU-A.
Voorhees closes their season at 10-34.
