The Houston-Victoria Jaguars scored four runs in the bottom of the eigth inning Thursday night to beat LSU-Alexandria 5-2 to advance to the winners bracket of the A.I.I Baseball Tournament in Jackson, TN.
It was the 20th straight victory over the Generals for UHV.
Austin Kent led the inning off with his second home run of the tourney. The Jags added three more runs to win their 29th game of the season after a 1-10 start.
UHV's Broc Hayman and LSU-A 's Robert Ormsbee had both pitched well for seven innings until the explosion by the Jags. Casey Newman picked up the win while Pete Ontiveros was credited with the save.
Kent, John Longoria, and Josh Bromberg all had two hits for the Jags who will meet Thomas University at 11 a.m. Friday.
LSU-A will face Lambuth at 3 p.m. The Generals beat Lambuth Wednesday 8-2.
