November 18, 2008 - Lambuth's Brett Borm and St. Thomas' Casey Mulryan are the NAIA's Association of Independent Institutions Male and Female Athlete of the Week, for the week ending November 17, 2008. Brett Borm, a sophomore goalkeeper from Collierville, Tennessee, helped lead Lambuth (TN) to their first ever berth at the NAIA National Championships. Borm led the Eagles to a 5-1 win in the A.I.I. semifinals against the University of St. Thomas, and then stood on his head against Simon Fraser in the A.I.I. Championship Final. Borm made three saves in regulation and overtime as the score remained knotted at 0-0 after 110 minutes, then stopped two penalty shots to give Lambuth the 6-5 win in the shootout. Borm and his teammates battle Southern Nazarene in the opening round of the NAIA National Championships this weekend.

Casey Mulryan, a sophomore from Anahuac, Texas, helped give the University of St. Thomas their first ever Association of Independent Institutions Championship over the weekend, leading UST past Our Lady of the Lake in the Championship final. Mulryan finished with seven kills in the straight sets victory over OLLU, and had 11 kills and five blocks earlier in the day against Embry-Riddle in the A.I.I. semifinals. Mulryan and her teammates compete this weekend against Point Loma Nazarene in the opening round of the NAIA National Championships.
