The California State University-San Marcos women's soccer team fell five spots in the latest NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll released Tuesday.
The Cougars (3-2-1) were the lone Association of Independent Institutions school in the Top 25 as they dropped from No. 12 to No. 17 in the latest rankings, with Ashford lurking just outside the Top 25.
Ashford (Iowa), a newcomer to the A.I.I., received 32 votes in the poll and were four spots back of breaking into the top 25..
CSUSM and Ashford were the top two teams in the conference rankings as well. The University of Houston-Victoria (Texas) moved up to No. 3, while Jamestown fell to No. 4, and Rochester (Mich) moved to No. 5.
Concordia (Ore.), with 18 first-place votes, was at No. 1 with 589 points, while Lee (Tenn.) moved from No. 3 to No. 2, and Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) fell from No. 2 to No. 3.
