
Jamestown College's Sarah Becker and Ashford University's Chein Hau-Tan have earned top honors in the Association of Independent Institutions this week as Becker has been named Female Athlete of the Week, while Tan has been named the Male Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept 17-24.
Becker, a 6-foot-1 junior middle blocker from Rochester, MN, guided Jamestown to a 4-1 week as she finished with 65 kills and a .476 attack percentage. She also tallied 14 blocks, six digs and one assist as the Jimmies defeated Dickinson State (N.D.), Valley City State (N.D.), South Dakota Mines and Mayville State (N.D.).
Tan put together his first career medalist performance in winning the Culver-Stockton College Invitational. Tan posted rounds of 73-70-143 to claim the top individual honors and help the Saints win the team title as well. His second-day 70 was also a new career record for the senior from Sabah, Malaysia.
