10.31.2012 - [Women's Cross Country]

It will be No. 1 vs. No. 2 this Saturday when California State-San Marcos plays hosts to the 2012 Association of Independent Institutions Conference Cross Country Meet.

The women's race will be highlighted by the nation's top two teams - No. 1 and three-time defending NAIA National champion Cal State-San Marcos and No. 2 University of British Columbia. CSUSM has won the last four conference titles.

The women's 5K race will kick off the morning competition at 9 a.m. with the six-team field also including Ashford, Dakota State, Jamestown College and Johnson and Wales.

The men's 8K event, which follows at 10 a.m., should be just as exciting as the women's race with No. 2-ranked British Columbia and No. 4 CSUSM expected to duel for the title. UBC defeated CSUSM by one point at the Santa Clara Invitational earlier in October. The men's field will also include Ashford, Dakota State, Jamestown College and Johnson and Wales.

Admission to the meet is free.
