University of British Columbia's Jackie Regan and Ashford University's DeAndre Lowery Jr. have earned top honors in the Association of Independent Institutions this week as Regan has been named Female Athlete of the Week, while Lowery has been named the Male Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 29-Nov. 4.

Regan, a sophomore, captured top individual honors and helped second-ranked British Columbia defeated top-ranked Cal State-San Marcos for the team title at the A.I.I. Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday. Regan clocked a time of 17 minutes, 13 seconds to earn individual honors and reach the NAIA National Championships.

Lowery, a sophomore guard from Calumet City, Ill., helped Ashford opened the 2012-13 season with a pair of wins over the University of St. Francis and Faith Baptist Bible College. Lowery averaged 17 points, five assists, three rebounds and 2.5 steals per game. He shots 58.3 percent from the field hitting 14 of 24 shots and was a perfect 2-for-2 from 3-point range and 4-for-4 from the free throw line.
