Mayville State University's Marcisa McMillan and Dakota State University's Yusuf Vinson have earned top honors in the Association of Independent Institutions this week as McMillan has been named Female Athlete of the Week, while Vinson has been named the Male Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 27-Feb. 3.

McMillan, a 6-foot-2 senior center from Seattle, Wash., averaged 17.5 points and 12 rebounds a game in leading the Comets to a pair of wins over Dakota State and No. 24 Valley City State. McMillan turned in a double-double performance with 22 points and 18 rebounds against Dakota State. She also was 10-of-14 from the floor and had two blocks. She came back with 15 points and eight rebounds against Valley City State. She was 11 of 12 from the free throw line with one block in the win.

Vinson, a 6-5 junior forward from Lincoln, Neb., also turned in a double-double performance for the week averaging 11 points and 10 rebounds a game for the Trojans in wins over Mount Marty (S.D.) and Jamestown (N.D.). He came off the bench to score 10 points and grab 12 rebounds in the win over Mount Marty and then added 12 points and eight rebounds against Jamestown. He shot 53.3 percent from the field and had three 3-pointers and three steals for the week.
