SAN MARCOS, Calif. - In a highly anticipated rematch between two of the premier men's cross country teams in the NAIA, the fourth-ranked Cougars made a statement and avenged a prior defeat to second-ranked British Columbia to run away with the 2012 A.I.I. Championship on Saturday. The Cougars scored 24 to British Columbia's 36, while Ashford and Jamestown tied for third with 107 points.
The Cougars had four runners finish in the top five with senior Danny Lyon taking individual honors a full nine seconds ahead of runner-up Luc Bruchet, a senior from British Columbia. Lyon clocked in at 24 minutes, 18 seconds, while Bruchet ran a 24:27.
