MARIETTA, Ga. – Spurred by a dominating defensive effort with their trademark full-court pressure, the No. 23 Life (Ga.) Running Eagles (7-5) stunned No. 1 Georgetown (Ky.) (9-1) on Monday night (Dec. 2) at the Eagles' Nest by a 119-109 final score. LIFE forced 29 Georgetown turnovers while riding a 14-2 run from the 10:18 mark to the 8:54 mark in the second half to take as large as a 17-point advantage that carried them to the upset.
LIFE came into the game leading the country in steals per game at over 13 per contest, and they added to that total by swiping 18 on the night, leading to consistent fast break opportunities that they converted. LIFE did have to hold off a furious late Georgetown rally in the end that saw their lead cut to as little as six to hang on to their third victory over a top-ten foe on the young season.
